The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 07/30/2004 Sanford R. Hunt, 78, died in Payson, July 25, 2004. He was born Feb. 9, 1926 at Holbrook. He joined the United States Army Air Force directly upon graduating from high school and served there during WWII. He married Nadine Stradling in 1951. Their vows were later solemnized at the Mesa Temple. They made their home in St. Johns. Sanford had a great sense of humor. He loved a good joke and a good laugh. He liked horses, but was especially fond of quarter horses. He was a true cowboy, loving to ranch and even rode saddle and bareback broncs and bulls at the rodeos. His survivors include his wife, Nadine Hunt, St. Johns; sons Timothy (Jolene) Hunt, St. Johns, Sanford (Sheree) Hunt, Anthem, John Hunt, St. Johns; daughter Edie (David) Doubt, St. Johns; 11 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. His parents, two brothers and three sisters precede him in death. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 31 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Downtown Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burnham-Jewkes Mortuary, St. Johns is in charge of arrangements.
