BAIRD, Cody Allen


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 07/30/2004 Cody Allen Baird, 14, died July 24, 2004 near Joseph City. Cody was born in Flagstaff and has lived in Joseph City all of his life. He graduated from Joseph City Jr. High and would have been a Freshman at Joseph City High School this fall. Cody had a great gift with art and music. He was a free hand artist and could pick up just about any musical instrument and soon he could play it. He especially enjoyed playing the drums to rock and roll music. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting with his dad and brothers and with his Grandpa Baird. Cody was a lot of fun, and his family and friends will always remember him as a tease, and for his tender heart and compassionate service. He was one to care for others and always wanted to cheer up anyone who was sad. Cody was a member of the Joseph City First Ward and was a Teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had earned his Eagle Scout Award and the Duty to God Award. Cody is survived by his parents, Randy and Wendy Baird of Joseph City; two brothers, Brandon Lee Baird and Jeremy Scott Baird of Joseph City; paternal grandparents, Brantley and Katie Baird of Joseph City; and maternal grandparents, Dahl and Lana Walker of Salt Lake City, Utah. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 28 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Joseph City. Burial will be in the Joseph City Cemetery.
