SCHAEFER, Opal Lee


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 08/10/2004 Opal Lee Schaefer, 71, died at her home in Concho, Aug. 3, 2004. Opal was born March 25, 1933 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She worked most of her life as a waitress. She moved to Concho Valley in 1987. She and her husband loved to camp and fish. After his death, she still fished on occasion, but some of the joy was gone from the sport. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended church in Concho. Surviving her is her best friend and sister-in-love, Laverne M. Forbes and Laverne's daughter who always called Opal, "Aunt Lee," Dawn MacDonald, both of Concho Her husband; parents; two brothers; and one sister precede her in death. A memorial service will be held for Opal Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 3 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Concho. Burnham-Jewkes Mortuaries, St. Johns/Springerville was in charge of arrangements.
