John F. Wurtz died April 18, 2010 in Scottsdale, he was 78 years old. He was born December 18, 1931 in Greenleaf, KN.
John proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He earned an associates degree in Fire Science, and retired as a firefighter from Monterey Park, CA. John was an avid golfer and a devout Catholic, John and Father Fred shared a birthday, in which they celebrated together every year.
John is survived by his daugthers; Rose Marie Maschhaupt of Scottsdale, and Debbie (Jerry) Stearly of Ohio, sons; John A. Wurtz of Prescott, and Ernest (Jane) Narvaez of Mission Viejo, CA. Survivors also include his 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife Ida.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. with a scriptural rosary beginning at 3 p.m. April 24, 2010, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St, Prescott, Ariz. Celebration Mass will be at 11 a.m. April 26, 2010, St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 2062 N. State Route 89, Chino Valley. Final Farewell and Commendation at 2 p.m. April 26, 2010, at Prescott National Cemetery, Highway 69 at Highway 89.
