Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, Apr 21st, 2010 Joe L. Diaz, age 54 of Globe, Arizona passed away Friday, April 16, 2010, at Phoenix St. Luke's Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, worked as an Acid Plant Operator at Freeport-McMorRan, was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament and was an avid Arizona sports fan. He loved his family above all and found time to be a father figure to all of his nieces and nephews and all of their friends; Joe had a special place in his heart for Kevin and Courtney. He loved life and lived every day like it was his last. Joe will be warmly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him. Joe leaves behind in loving memory his wife of 17years, Christine (Sanchez) Diaz of Globe, whom he married on September 4, 1993; mother Lucy Diaz of Mesa; two sisters Vicky Alcaraz & her husband Tony of Globe and Patricia Diaz-Roberts of Mesa; two sisters-in-law Cathy Cañez of Globe and Dolores Diaz of Globe; in-laws John & Bea Sanchez of Globe; nephews Kevin Cañez, Jesse Alcaraz (Sarah), Tony Alcaraz (Erika), Jason Alcaraz (Renee), Michael Diaz (Jen), Derrik Roberts and Justin Roberts; nieces Courtney Cañez, Kristina Diaz, Anissa Salazar, Britni Roberts; and his girls Cinnamon & Fergie. Joe was preceded in death by his father Lucio "Wichita" Diaz and brother Daniel "Danny" Diaz. Visitation will be Friday, April 23, 2010 at 6 p.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 844 W. Sullivan St., Miami, Ariz. Rosary will follow visitation on Friday, April 23 at 7 p.m. Mass will be held Saturday, April 24, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament. Interment will be at Globe Cemetery.
