HANSON, Cynthia

(Maiden Name: Lyons)

Eastern Arizona Courier, Safford, AZ Wednesday, April 21, 2010 Cynthia Lyons Hanson Cynthia Lyons Hanson, 63, of Safford passed away at her home with her mother by her side on April 15, 2010. She was born Jan. 23, 1947, in Miami to Marvin and Shirley Lyons. Cynthia attended Globe schools, graduating in 1965. She attended the Arizona State University for two years and decided to work instead of going to school. She worked for the Scottsdale Schools District and later for Amanda Blake, “Miss Kitty” on “Gunsmoke.” Cynthia loved her job because she was able to go with Amanda to Hollywood when she was shooting her scenes for “Gunsmoke.” She met all the crew and several other stars. Cynthia especially enjoyed the animals Amanda had on her compound: an African lion, cheetahs, mountain lions, raccoons and other animals. Cynthia’s health forced her to give up her job, and in 1982, she moved to Safford to be closer to her mother. Cynthia was a member of a group for handicapped persons called “New Horizons” for several years. Cynthia is survived by her mother, Shirley Barnard, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Lyons. Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 19, at 10 a.m. in the Desert Springs Community Fellowship Church by Pastor Dan Rohm. Concluding services were held at the Pima Cemetery. Online condolences may be extended at www.caldwellfuneralchapel.com. Arrangements were under the direction of the Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
