Ruth (Cuca) Perfecto
Ruth (Cuca) Perfecto died April 2, 2010, (Good Friday at 3 p.m., the same time that our Saviour died). She was born in Metcalf, was a resident of Clifton and owner of Perfecto’s Beauty Salon for about 30 years.
Ruth graduated from Clifton High School, where she was active in tennis, track and volleyball. During WWII, she was a welder in an aircraft plant in California.
Upon returning to Clifton, she attended beauty school in Safford and later built her house as well as a salon on the same property. She was very artistic as a stylist and very successful as a businesswoman.
During the years that she owned the shop, local women depended on her to look their best, and many area girls were employed by her. To ensure that she was up to date with the latest fashions, she traveled to many countries and states to attend conventions. She was a one-of-a-kind lady, and it was never better exemplified than when, even with the rigors of running the business and traveling, she was determined to adopt and raise her two nieces, Carmen and Sylvia.
Cuca retired in 1981 and moved to Sierra Vista. In 1988, she moved to Tucson, where she lived the rest of her life.
Cuca will be greatly missed and remembered as a caring and giving person. She is survived by sisters Connie (Concha) Paz of Phoenix and Carmen Ferguson of El Paso, Texas. She is also survived by niece Sylvia Kowalski of Tucson and nephews Michael Paz of Las Vegas and Jimmy Paz of Phoenix.
