DRISKILL, Andrew J. (Jack)


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ February 2, 2000, p. A18 Andrew “Jack” Driskill Long-time resident Andrew J. (Jack) Driskill, 82, passed away on Jan. 26, 2000 after a bried illness. As a young man, he worked in various locations around the state with the Pipefitter’s Union as an insulation specialist. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II as Fireman First Class on the USS Goshen in the Pacific Ocean. After his discharge from the service, he helped his parents operate the Fold Spot Inn in Phoenix for several years before moving to Wickenburg in 1948. Being a “Jack of All Trades,” he worked as a self-employed repairman and operated a self-service laundromat for many years. He was Post Commander of the VFW, Hassayampa Post 2862, and enjoyed motorcycling, woodworking projects, tinkering with machines, attending Wise Owl activities, and visiting with friends. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie; daughter Jacque Moody of Santa Cruz, Calif.; step-daughters Carol Miller of Wickenburg, Valerie Echeverria of Chandler, and Joan Barth of Orangevale, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service is planned in April, with interment in the National Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 101 W. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ., or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014.
