Helen H. Luckett of Wickenburg, died March 4 in Sun City. She was 81.
Mrs. Luckett was born March 14, 1918 in Shoshoni, Wyo. She had lived in Arizona for the past 26 years.
Helen was born to ranchers Anna Dana and William ‘Scotty” Hendry, and she grew up in Wyoming, attending Badwater Rural Schools and then Natrona County High School in Casper, graduating in 1936. She went off to Philadelphia, Penn., where she attended Drexel Institute of Technology, while employed by the Goodrich and Wiling Architectural Firm. By 1961 she decided to move to Denver where she worked as a legal secretary for Midland Savings.
She married James A. Luckett in 1970 before once again relocating to Chico, Calif. The couple then came to Wickenburg in 1972.
Helen led a very active lifestyle, working as a secretary for the Wickenburg Unified School District before her retirement in 1984. She loved to golf, play bridge, travel throughout most of her adult life. She was a member of the Wickenburg Country Club, Elks Lodge, and volunteered much of her time at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Wickenburg.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Wade and William Wade, both of Denver, Colo.; sister Margaret Morgan of Chico; brother William Hendry of Pasadena, Calif.; and grandchildren William Scott Wade and Dana Ann Wade, of Denver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. in 1982; brother Jim Hendry in 1998; and sister Jean, in 1962.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today, Wednesday at the Wickenburg, Funeral Home.
