Mattie J. Woody of Oxnard, Calif., and a former resident of Aguila, died March 6 in Oxnard. She was 88.

Mrs. Woody was born Nov. 3, 1911 in Seattle, Wash. Before moving to Oxnard in 1978, she lived in Aguila, 25 miles west of Wickenburg. During her 15 years in Arizona, she was responsible for spearheading the acquisition of a community building, park, tennis courts, a well and farm housing in Aguila.

Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Carlsen of Sumner, Wash., Sylvia Duncan of Prescott, Alice-jean Davis of Oxnard and Bonnie Overby of Yelm, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
