MALDONADO, Luciano (Sonny)

Eastern Arizona Courier, Safford, AZ Wednesday, December 13, 2006 Luciano Marquez Maldonado died Nov. 26 in Safford. He was born Feb. 13, 1938, in San Jose to Miguel Maldonado and Beatrice Marquez. He was a construction worker and worked for various companies, most recently Bowen Construc-tion. Luciano liked working in his yard, going to the casino, deerhunting and fishing, but he mostly liked spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Maldonado; a son, James Maldonado Sr.; daughters, Rebecca Maldonado, Veronica Maldonado (Juan), Melissa Molina (Larry), Michelle Kinnison (Gary) and Sunny Aguilar (Joey); brothers, Arturo, Pete, Ralph and Robert Maldonado; sisters, Connie Ruiz, Nellie Sanchez and Mary Maldonado; 19 granchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Maldonado in 1988; his mother, Beatrice Soto in 1987; and a sister, Veva Arrellin in 2006. A rosary was recited at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Chruch on Nov. 29. The funeral was Nov. 30, and burial was in Safford Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Michael Maldonado Jr., Jeremy Maldonado, Brannon Maldonado, Shawn Moreno, Adam Maldonado and Eric Montoya.
