MURPHY, Charles Edward


Published in The Arizona Republic 7 Sept. 1978 Charles Edward Murphy, 72, who came to Phoenix in 1916 and retired in 1964 after 22 years as a policeman for the City of Phoenix, died Sept. 2, 1978, in Ponca City, Okla. Mr. Murphy had been with the Maricopa County Juvenile Department from 1967 to 1976, was a machinist 10 years with the Southern Pacific Railroad Co., and a foreman with the City of Phoenix Street department for five years. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 2, Arizona Masonic Lodge 2, Arizona Firefighters, Chola Bay Sportsmans Club and a trustee of the FOP Grand Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Pauline; children, Judith Burris, Timothy, Charles Wayne and Robert; 10 grandchildren; a sister and a brother. Masonic services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in A. L. Moore & Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams.
