Buckeye-Services for William Major Sr., 78, pioneer Arizona druggist have been set for tomorrow.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Buckeye. The Rev. Roy McGuffy will officiate. Burial will be in Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Buckeye Funeral Home.
A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Major came to Arizona in 1912 and workd in various drug stores in the state.
He opened a drug store in Wickenburg in 1914. He opened a drug store in Buckeye in 1919 and operated it until he retired in 1945.
He was promoter of the original Hellzapoppin' Celebration in Buckeye and was active in civic affairs.
Survivors include three sons, Frank of Phoenix, Watson of Scottsdale, and William Jr. of Yuma; three daughters, Mrs. Mae Davis of Buckeye, Mrs. Nellie Bird of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Marion Salem of Denver; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one half-sister, out of state.
