Micajah R. "Max" Sadler died April 28, 2004 after a brave struggle with cancer.
Max was born in Goodyear, in 1920 and grew up a true Arizona cowboy. He excelled in sports and attended Arizona State (now NAU) on a n athletic scholarship. After graduation he joined the United States Coast Guard and served his country in Newport, Oregon and the South Pacific.
After the war, he married Donna Fritts in Prescott and settled into a 40 year career as a parts department manager for General Motor's dealerships in the western United States. He was a great father, and will be missed by nearly everyone who ever met him.
Max was a resident of the Concho area for the past eight years on and off. He always had a smile on his face and would listen to your story and offer a bit of sage advice. He was the start quarterback for NAU one year. You would think he was one of the crews from McHale's Navy from some of the stories he had for you. Sadler was one of the best traders on the mountain. He was indeed a true Arizona cowboy. Honest in all his dealings. He will be missed by the many lives he touched in the White Mountains.
His last days were tough, but he was surrounded by his loving family when his struggle ended. Left to mourn his passing are his daughter, Joyce Young of Las Vegas, Nevada; son, Cary Sadler of Flagstaff; granddaughters, Sheri and Justice; great-granddaughters Tori and Taylor; and many other family and friends; and of course his wife of 32 years, Donna of Pahramp, Nevada. Though Donna and Max had been divorced for nearly 20 years, she was at his side when he died.
The family would like to recognize all of the caring staff at the Prescott VA Medical Center at Fort Whipple.
A private cremation was held by Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.
Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
