FLORES, Ramon Miranda


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 09/14/2004 Ramon Miranda Flores, 90, died Sept. 10, 2004 in Lakeside. Ramon was born in Los Angeles, California and moved to Arizona where he spent most of his younger years in Humboldt. He met Mary Fernandez in McNary, where he had come to work at the sawmill. They were married and had two children, Lucy and Ray. After briefly living in Jerome, they returned to McNary where Ramon lived for most of his life. In his spare time Ramon liked fishing, hunting and family camping outings, but his passion was playing baseball. He played seriously in the Northern Arizona League until he was 50 years old. He pitched in the All-Star game in Mesa where he racked up 14 strikeouts. Ramon was a loving father, husband and especially a wonderful grandpa, teaching his grandchildren, nieces and nephews to fish and play baseball. He will be missed by all. Ramon is survived by his wife, Mary Flores of Pinetop; one son, Ray (Gloria) Flores of Peoria; one daughter, Lucy Johnson of Pinetop; five grandchildren, Darwin, Teri Lynn, Melissa, Fred and Mona; five great-grandchildren, Devin, Jacob, Bailey, Nickolas and Alexis; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at 7 p.m. and Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14 at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Pinetop and Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15 at the church.
