The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ June 14, 2000, p. A16 Marjorie Virginia Hartman, 88, of Mesa passed away June 5 at the Wickenburg Regional Medical Center. Marjorie was born in Hillsboro, Ill., on June 24, 1911. Her childhood was spent in Fayetteville, Ark., but at the age 13 her family moved to Downey, Calif. She later attended Whittier (Calif.) College. Marjorie moved to Mesa in 1934 and began her life career of homemaker, physician’s wife, mother and community volunteer. A wonderful cook, she was also a talented seamstress and decorator, her floral arrangements and gift wrappings were true works of art. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Mesa. Organizations she belonged to included Mesa Desert Club, the Mesa Golf and Country Club, and she was a volunteer with the Mesa general Hospital Auxiliary. Marjorie was a 57-year member and Past President of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter K. Her family was her delighted and she is survived by her children; daughter Kathryn Louise (Katie) Scott and husband Dr. Ralph A. Scott of Wickenburg; and her sons Philip McDavid Hartman and his wife Shirley Ann of Maricopa, and James Arthur (Jim) Hartman of Wickenburg. Her dearly beloved grandchildren are Susan Irene Bang of Reno, Nev., Craig Phillip Scott of Peoria, Bryan McD Hartman of Casa Grande, and Kelly Jo Hartman of Phoenix. Her great-grandchildren are Jason, Evan and Jennifer Bang of Reno, Erik, Andrew and Connor Hartman of Casa Grande, and Seth Hartman of Maricopa. A devoted wife and mother, Marjorie was preceded in death in 1989 by her husband of 55 years, Osteopathic Physician Philip. F. Hartman and her brother, Waynard Phillips McDavid. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the P.E.O educational projects in care of the Treasurer of Chapter K, at 1651 S. pecan Circle, Mesa, 85302, or the Philip F. Hartman Medical Library at the Mesa general Hospital 515 N. mesa Drive, Mesa 85201. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 26 at the First Presbyterian Church, 180 N. Adams St., in Wickenburg. The Rev. James P. Longstreet will officiate. Frey Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
