The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ June 21, 2000, p. A9 Howard E. Burner passed away Thursday, June 15 at his home in Wickenburg. He was 81. He was born Dec. 2, 1918 in Benton Ridge, Ohio. He had lived in Wickenburg for the past 10 years and in Arizona for 61 years. Howard was a letter carrier in Phoenix for 30 years and a charter member of Cross Roads United Method Church in Phoenix. A dedicated singer, Howard sang in the Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix for 51 years, touring Europe, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand, and sang in church choirs as well. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg. Howard was a caregiver for “We Care” and a charter member of the B.O.O.T. organization. He was the founding member of the Arizona Dairy Goat Association. How and his wife hosted 10 YFU foreign exchange students from Europe, South America and Asia over a 20-year period in Phoenix and Wickenburg. He is survived by his wife, Judy; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Jane; granddaughters Beth and Sarah; stepdaughters Julie Larsen and Paula Firestone; grandchildren Crystal Lynn and Gus Firestone and Sarah and Aaron Larsen; and brothers and sisters Lois Light, Ralph Burner, Ruth Collert, Dorothy Lehman of Ohio and Ray Burner of Hawaii. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 25. There will be a special service later this summer at his home church, Calvary United Methodist Church in Benton Ridge. Memorial contribution may be made to the Arizona Lung Association, 102 W.
