The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 13, 2000, p. A7 Edward Brackney of Wickenburg, died Sept. 7 in Sun West Care Center in Sun City West. He was 94. Mr. Brackney was born Jan. 13, 1906 in Ben Lomond, Calif. He was married to Thelma Hawkins in 1931, and they were together for the next 67 years. Edward and Thelma were in the trucking and ranching business in the Woodlake and Fresno, California areas until 1952. Then they moved to Kingman, and over the next 23 years owned ranches near Kingman, Flagstaff and Wickenburg, until retirement in 1975. The Brackneys enjoyed their retirement years in Wickenburg and Lakeside, Arizona, and were active in the First Presbyterian Churches in Wickenburg, Pinetop and Order of Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge in Wickenburg. Separated by Thelma’s death in 1997, they now together again. Survivors include brother R. B. Brackney of Turlock, Calif.; son Robert C. Brackney of Wickenburg; daughter Betty Joyce Brown of Moreno Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Wickenburg Funeral Home today, Wednesday, from 7-8 p.m. Graveside services will be at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 9 a.m. Any memorials are requested to be sent to the First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg.
