Christine V. Henkel, After a long illness, Violet Christine Henkel went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 5, 2002 at the age of 80 years of age. Christine was born December 31, 1921 in Hale Center, Texas to Phoebe and L.F. Jordan. She lived in Arizona 47 years, in Willcox 34 years, and had resided in the Valley of the Sun since 1997. Christine was the wife of Rev. Hershel H. Henkel. Christine and Hershel were married on September 11, 1938 and from that day forward served the Lord. They pastored churches in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona and were ordained by the Home Mission Board to serve as Director of Missions in Southeastern Arizona in Greenlee, Graham and Cochise Counties. Christine was preceded in death by her Husband, Rev. Hershel H. Henkel and daughter Kathy Palignoff of Phoenix. Survivors include: daughters, Saundra Williams and Patsy Trejo of Mesa, Arizona, Sgt. Mark Henkel of Ft. Riley, Kansas, David Henkel of Phoenix, Arizona, one brother, Randall Jordan and two sisters, Marguerite Herd and Viola Pate who all reside in Lubbock, Texas and 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services Sunday, December 8th, 2002, at Bunkers University Chapel, 3529 E. University, Mesa, AZ with Dr. Nathan Pillow officiating. Burial at Sunset Cemetery, Willcox, AZ, Wednesday Dec. 11th at 1:00 PM. Casket bearers: Kevin Williams, Barry Williams, Brandon Maddux, Steven Henkel, David Henkel, Jacob Henkel.
