Alice Mildred Wohlrabe, 83, died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Hospice Family Care in Prescott, Ariz. She had courageously fought leukemia for seven and a half years with her husband Chuck at her side.
She was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Amboy, Minn., to George and Florence Petersen.
She attended rural country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Amboy High School in 1944.
She was united in marriage to Charles William Wohlrabe on July 22, 1945. Together they farmed at Amboy and Lake Crystal, Minn., and later at Herman, Minn. In 1974, they relocated to Prescott Valley, Ariz. Following moving to Arizona, Alice worked as a nurse's aide at Yavapai Regional Hospital in Prescott, Ariz. Later she joined her husband Chuck in their Foothill Mobile Homes sales in Prescott Valley.
She enjoyed making quilts and braided rugs. Before passing away, she finished her 122nd rug to equal the same number of hand-stitched quilts (122). Her quilts were works of art,
never making the same pattern or using the same color combinations twice.
She is survived by her husband Chuck of 64 years. Other survivors include three sons, Jerry (Mardell) Wohlrabe of Prescott Valley, Dean (Sheila) Wohlrabe of Prescott
Valley, and Dr. Dale (Lori) Wohlrabe of Trimont, Minn.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were with the Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Funeral homes of Prescott Valley. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Hospice Family Care of Prescott, Ariz.
