BEJAR, Miguel A. (Herman)


Copper Basin News, Hayden, Az. Wednesday 28, 2010 Miguel A. “Herman” Bejar, 85, of Kearny, passed away Thursday, April 22 in Mesa. He was born June 18, 1924 in Superior to Mariano and Nellie Lopez Bejar. Miguel had served in the United States Army during World War II, seeing action in the European Theatre. A carpenter, he had worked for Kennecott Copper Corp from 1951 until retiring in 1981. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. As hobbies, he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Golfing was one thing he greatly enjoyed and he had made three holes in one. As a veteran, he had belonged to the American Legion and the VFW. Miguel loved his family and his greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with them. Survivors include his son, Armando (the late Amelia) Bejar of Kearny; daughter, Vera (David) Messer of Mesa; brother, David (Mary Lou) Bejar of Washington; sisters, Maria (the late Ceasar) Vitale and Esther Bejar of California; four grandchildren, Davie Messer, Michael (Trisha) Bejar, Angela (Jay) Wernett, and Richard Verdugo; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews. Miguel was preceded in death by his wife, Sofie Bejar and daughter, Sylvia Verdugo. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church in Kearny,with Father James Aboyi celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Mesa.
