Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, Apr 28th, 2010 Edna R. Salcines, age 78, of Austin, Texas, formerly of El Paso, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. She was born April 30, 1931 in Globe, Ariz. to Sebie and Edna Anderson. Edna married the love of her life, Benjamin Salcines on May 23, 1953 in Globe, Ariz. She was a registered nurse for over 40 years after graduating from Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. As a nurse, she was the duty nurse for the first open heart surgery performed in El Paso. Edna resided in El Paso for 53 years and had just recently moved to Austin in 2009. She was an avid bowler, loved to travel and also enjoyed gardening and swimming. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and tried to attend all of their activities. Edna will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Edna is preceded in death by daughter, Kim Salcines and six siblings. Edna is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Benjamin Salcines; children, Gregory (Jill) Salcines, Benet Arredondo (Rene), Leigh Ann (Robert) Smith, Jack (Sheila) Salcines, and Holly (Thomas) Czarnecki; her twin siblings, Mary (Brad) Watts and Wesley (Helen) Anderson; grandchildren, Amanda, Marc, Corey, Justin, Kristin, Logan, Travis, Krista, Jordan, Hayden, Lori Kay, Christiana, Rachel, Benjamin and Savannah and other loving family members. A memorial service was held on March 26. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
