The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ August 30, 2000, p. A7 Lloyd Britton of Wickenburg, died Aug. 25 in Wickenburg. He was 83. Mr. Britton was born July 11, 1907 in Auburn, W. Va. He had lived in Arizona for the past 51 years. Lloyd Britton was born July 11, 1907 in Auburn, West Virginia, the son of Albert Lindsey and Iona Watson Britton. He graduated from Glenville State Teachers College and taught school. He enlisted in the U. S. Army on May 12, 1941, before World War II began. He was a military policeman. He was stationed in Alaska, where he met and later married Lois Hanford. At his discharge in September 1945, he attained the rank of sergeant. Mr. Britton moved to Wickenburg in 1949 and was involved in community activities. He was past commander of Kellis-Draper Post of the American legion, a life member of the York Rite of Freemasonry, Past Master of Hassayampa Lodge No. 37, a member of the Eastern Star and member of the El Zaribah Temple. Survivors include his stepson, Leonard and daughter-in-law Caron Hanford, of Wickenburg; and grandchildren Fred Hanford of Palmdale, Calif., Megan Hanford of Tucson, Todd Hanford of Arizona and their families, including five great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Lois Hanford Britton; and his second wife, Pauline Kiester Britton. Memorial contributions in Mr. Britton’s name may be made to the Wickenburg Regional Medical Center Extended Care Unity, 520 Rose Lane, Wickenburg, Ariz. 85390, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Services have been held.
