Oliver Davis, 84, died April 27, 2010, in Flagstaff. He was born on May 11, 1925, in Clay Springs.
Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 in the European (EAME) Campaign during World War II. He was awarded a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal during his service.
He was a fireman for the AT&SF Railway, drove logging trucks for many companies in the White Mountains/Mogollon Rim and delivered Meals on Wheels during his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, loved prospecting and polishing stones. He liked to fish and read the Arizona Republic and especially loved country music and picking his guitar.
Mr. Davis is survived by Edith, his loving wife of 55 years; children Phyllis Engels (Charlie), Johnathan (Amy), Shirley Wyatt (Keith), Patricia Brown (Richard), Russell (Amanda), Robin (Christina), Benjamin, Debra Shaw (William), Michael (Luciane); 32 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and siblings Alice Davis, Betty Yarborough, Bessie Bowler, Kenneth Davis, Russell Davis, Charles Davis, Richard Davis and Jeanette Malone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Melissa Davis; sister Ruby Spear; and one grandson.
A funeral service is Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Clay Springs. Viewing will be held one hour prior in the Relief Society Room. Burial will follow in Clay Springs Cemetery.
