Mrs. Black was born July 1, 1929 in Wisconsin. She had lived in Wickenburg as a winter visitor for the past 13 years. Services will be Thursday, Dec. 7 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. A8 Aileen (Madigan, Straseski) Black passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Del E Webb Memorial Hospital in Sun City West. She was 71. She was born July 1, 1929 in Rosendale, Wisc., the daughter of Lester and Amy (Grady) Madigan. After high school graduation, Aileen earned a two-year teaching diploma from Oshkosh Teacher's College. Her first teaching positions were at the Dodd and the Bell School, one-room schools in rural Rosendale. On July 8, 1950 she married Wilfred (Mike) Straseski at St. Mary's Catholic Church in the town of Springvale, Fond du Lac County, Wisc. They raised their seven children in Fox Lake, Wisc., and were together for 43 years until Mike's death in September 1993. Aileen resumed her elementary teaching career in 1966 and taught at both parochial and public schools in Wisconsin. She retired from the Markesan School District in May 1986. She continued her education, too, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in upper elementary education from UW-Oshkosh on Aug. 6, 1971 and a Master of Science Degree from the college on Aug. 7, 1981. After retirement, Aileen and Mike spent their winters in Wickenburg and returned to their Fox Lake home for the summers. She married Elmer Black, a native of Whitefield, N.H., on July 5, 1997. During their three-year marriage they resided in Wickenburg and visited their families in Wisconsin and New Hampshire during the summers. In her retirement, Aileen enjoyed writing about her life experiences. She published two books and one of her stories was featured in a local newspaper. Aileen will be sadly missed by her husband, Elmer, of Wickenburg; six daughters, Amy (William) Hulbert of Park Falls, Wisc., Kathleen (Gordon) Bass of Madison, Wisc., Lucille (Steve) Tischer and Margaret (Albert) Yundt, both of Horicon, Wisc.; Mary (Leslie) Schraufnagel of Fox Lake, and Jane (Gordon) Otto of Beaver Dam, Wisc.; a son, Michael (Margaret) Straseski of Carthage, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Brenda (Eugene) Williams of Phoenix; two stepsons, Elmer Black, Jr. of Whitefield and Chuck Black of Parachute, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and seven great-stepchildren. She will also be mourned by her sister, Maureen (Thomas) Halfman of Rosendale; three brothers, Terry (Karen) Madigan and Patrick, both of Rosendale, and Barney (Sue) Madigan of Wickenburg; two sister-in-laws, Elverna (Frederick) Rennhack of Columbus, Ohio and Bonnie Straseskie of Beaver Dam; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister. A memorial service was held in Wickenburg on Thursday, Dec. 7. The family requested no flowers. Memorial contributions made to the family will be given to the American Cancer Society and libraries patronized by Aileen. Frey Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
