Lucia (Lucy) Barrera, 18, died Sept. 19, 2004 as a result of an automobile accident near Payson.
Lucy was born Dec. 1985 in Guymon, Oklahoma. She moved to Arizona 11 years ago. She attended Snowflake schools and was an active member of the local Red Cross Chapter. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lucy was employed at Ed's IGA Market in Snowflake.
She had just become engaged to Alic Rogers and was planning on getting married. She had planned on getting a degree in the Psychiatric field. Her electrifying personality was uplifting to the people she came in contact with. She was quick to offer a greeting with a big smile and a hug for everyone, especially small children.
Lucy is survived by her parents, Billy and Linda Barrera of Snowflake; brothers and sisters, Roberta Lake, Don Romero, Steve (Paula) Romero, Patrick (Abralene) Romero, Manuel Perez, Amy Barrera, Billy Barrera all of Snowflake/Taylor, Natasha Hedges, Stephanie Barrera, Jessica Barrera, Melissa Barrera all of Missouri; her grandfather, Max Van Leer of Oklahoma and 11 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday Sept. 23 at the Taylor Stake Center, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
There will be a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake and one hour prior to services at the church.
