Michael Donald Terrin
(March 21, 1956 - April 28, 2010)
Michael Donald Terrin, 54, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 28, 2010 in Flagstaff, AZ. Mike was born March 21, 1956, in Prescott AZ.
He was preceded in death by his father Edward and his mother Ruth Terrin. After graduating from high school in Prescott, Mike moved to Flagstaff to attend NAU and graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He later continued to pursue his education, obtaining a Masters degree in Criminal Justice in 1981.
Mike was a devoted family man. He met his “sweetheart”, Charlene Gibson, in 1983, and they later wed on August 17, 1985.
Mike is survived by his wife Charlene, daughters Christin Marie (22) and Danielle Cheree (17), son Michael Charles (10), grandsons Tanner Wayne and Avery Michael, sister Toni Cunningham (Kevin), brother John, father in law Charles Gibson (Sharon Cranford), brother in law Kelly Gibson (Christy), and several nieces and nephews. Mike also leaves behind many friends and comrades in an extended law enforcement community.
Mike loved to be active and enjoyed skiing, hunting, and traveling with his family. Mike truly enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching both softball and baseball with his kids. Mike was proud of the fact he raised his family in Church.
Mike was admired by all for his honor, loyalty, positive attitude, and unfailing willingness to give. Mike was not a “corner cutter”, and for Mike, it was either black or white.
Mike was hired on the Flagstaff Police Department on January 11, 1981. During his long and honorable tenure with the police department, he served for 13 years as a detective and was a member of the Tactical Operations Team. Mike also served as a D.A.R.E. instructor and as a Sergeant and Lieutenant in both the criminal investigations and patrol divisions. Most recently, Mike was acting as the public information officer for the police department. In January of 2010, Mike fulfilled a lifelong dream by attending the F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He graduated from Class 240 in March.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ’s Church of Flagstaff located at 3575 E. Soliere Avenue with a celebration of life at Flagstaff Tabernacle located at 1201 W. Kaibab at 3:00 p.m. Food will be provided.
