Thomas J. Tipton "T.J.", 81, died Saturday, September 25, 2004.
T.J was born on April 15, 1923 in Plainview, Texas to O'Connell "Charlie" Tipton and Esther Moore Tipton. He was raised in New Mexico and married the love of his life, Marcine Pardue Jan. 18, 1947. He joined the Conservation Corps in his youth and worked all over New Mexico. T.J. was a member of the U.S. Army from 1943-1945 and proudly served his country in WWII in the South Pacific Theater with the Infantry. He was awarded two purple hearts. T.J. was a long time cowboy in Arizona and New Mexico and was the Foreman for Castors, Baxters, and Feed and Ranch Supply retiring in 1973.
He is preceded in death by his parents, O'Connell "Charlie" and Esther Moore and three sisters.
T.J. is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marcine of Texico, New Mexico; two loving daughters, Sandy Cox; and Dee Hall (Gary) both of Belen; four loving sons, Skip "Tipton" Moss and his wife, Glenda of Clovis, New Mexico Charles "Chuck" Tipton (Susan) of Tahoka, Texas, Ronny Tipton (Dottie) of Portales, New Mexico, and Frank Tipton (Vicki) of Clovis, New Mexico; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
With the utmost respect for T.J.'s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 28, at the Clovis Livestock Auction in Clovis, New Mexico. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St. Belen.
