Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, July 16, 1974 Grace G. Holiday Visitation Today Grace C. Holiday, 79, died Friday in Paris, Tex. She was born on April 23, 1895 in Kansas City, Kan. and was graduated from Arizona State University in 1917. She received the Golden Alumni Award from that school, and attained a BA degree from NAU in 1942. She had been a teacher for 46 years, including several in Alaska. She taught at the Kuhne Day School and recently received a certificate for outstanding service to Prescott school children. She had been at the Pioneer Home since 1969. Survivors include one son, Everett Spidell, of Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter, Martha Spidell, of Los Angeles; one brother Paul Eckel: two sisters, Margaret DeSpain, of Oregon; Edith Moyer, of Texas; one nephew; one sister-in-law. Holliday, 79, a resident of the Arizona Pioneer’s Home in Prescott, died July 12 while on vacation in Paris, Texas, were held in Prescott and burial was in the Arizona Pioneer’s Cemetery. Mrs. Holliday, a long time resident of Wickenburg, had resided in the home since 1969. She graduated from Tempe Normal School (now Arizona State University) in 1917. She recently received a “Golden Alumni Award” from that school. She received her bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University in 1942 and taught for 46 years, including several in Alaska and 7 years as a substitute teacher in Wickenburg. Survivors include her son, Everett Spidell; daughter, Martha Spidell; a brother and two sisters; and four grandchildren, all out of state.
