Virginia G. 'Nana' Sanchez died April 27, 2010, in Phoenix. 
     
Virginia (Virgie) was born to Raymundo and Christina Garcia in Concho May 11, 1927. Her grandfather Avaristo Martinez was one of Concho's earliest settlers. She moved to Phoenix with her parents when she was young and helped them in the restaurant they owned by the state capital. She married Raymond Sanchez in 1953. After Ray's death in 1976, she devoted her life to her family and friends.
     
She is survived by her children Ramona Shelley, (Steve), Rebecca Mosher (Dean), Rudy Sanchez, Rose Sanchez, and adopted daughter Angela Murphy (Pat); 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren,and endless number of nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren.
     
Funeral services were held May 3, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Phoenix. The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions to St. Gregory Adopt a Student Program and Hospice of the Valley
     
Rude Family Mortuary handled arrangements.
