DIXON, Don William


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 10/15/2004 Don W. Dixon, 73, died Oct. 6, 2004 at RTA Hospice Care in Lakeside. Don was born in Williams, Oklahoma and was raised in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He graduated from high school in Greenwood, Arkansas. Following school he worked as a truck driver for Ft. Smith Butane Co. In 1952 he enlisted in the Army and served for two years and received the Distinguished Marshall Medal. Following his military service he went back to Fort Smith Butane. In 1959, he met and married Peggy Geraldine Miller. He worked for US Borax and Chemical as a miner. They then moved to Moab, Utah where he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. Three years later they moved to California where he worked as an auto mechanic until his retirement in 1973. They eventually made their home in Joseph City. He enjoyed fishing. Don is survived by his wife, Peggy of Joseph City; four sons, Bobby of Joseph City, David of Holbrook, Harold of Aubrey, Texas and Timothy Dixon of Joseph City; one sister, Mildred Fox of Pima; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
