Eva Afton Potts, 85, died Saturday Oct. 16, 2004 at the RTA Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Lakeside.
She was born in Harrisburg, Utah. Afton grew up and attended school in Southern Utah and Southern California. Following school she met and married Sam Edward Potts May 10, 1936 in Redlands, California. Following their marriage the relocated many times, living in Idaho and Oregon before moving to Phoenix in 1969, where she worked as a dietician for the community hospitals in Scottsdale, they also lived in Payson for a time.
In 1973 they moved to Woodruff where she worked as a cook and nurses Aid for the Holbrook Hospital. She retired in 1981 and focused her attention on caring for the needs of her children & grandchildren. Afton was a published poet and author of short stories. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as a Gospel Doctrine Teacher and many other positions in the church.
Mrs. Potts is survived by her daughters, Barbara Scoggin of Woodruff, Hazel (Sam) Harris of Woodruff, Edna Hawks of Boise, Idaho, Darlene (Bill) Fraley of Gilbert; sons, Cliff (Jean) Potts of Payson, Jim (Kayleen) Potts of Regburg, Idaho; sisters, Wilma Harvey of Clark Fork, Idaho, Donna Faye Young of Wilcox, AZ; 30 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam in 1989; her son Bob Potts in 1986; two granddaughters, Sue Ellen Hawks, Trishtan Potts and one great-granddaughter, Jenneca Harris.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 19, at the Woodruff Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the Relief Society Room at the Church.
Interment will be in the Woodruff Cemetery.
