RAY, David Clare

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 10/22/2004 David Clare Ray, 73, died Oct. 15, 2004 at the RTA Hospice and Palliative Care Center. Dave was born Dec. 28, 1930, the son of Ezra Clare and Dorothy Helen Ray in Lansing, Michigan. He lived in the Lansing area until he enlisted in the Army in 1948, serving in Korea. Upon his discharge in 1952 he moved to Phoenix, where he married Annette Corbin in June of 1953. Nick Ray and Melody Jackson was the result of this union. After divorcing Annette he married Laverne Nichols in 1965 adding her children, Terry Sellers, Connie Trevett, Doris Feakes, and Darrel Nichols to his family. Dave was a truck driver for several years before moving to the Heber Overgaard area in 1982. he worked for the School System there until his retirement in 1995. Along with his children, Dave is survived by his two brothers, Paul Ray and Michael Ray; two sisters, Mary Lender and Nancy Anderson; 17 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
