Dr. Ingrid Cedargreen Margolin passed away on Monday, April 26. Her death was due to complications from dementia with lewy bodies. Ingrid was 67 years old.
Prior to her illness, Dr. Margolin was a clinical psychologist and lived in Glendale, where she practiced as a psychologist and mental health provider since 1988, and where she lived and raised her family since 1961.
Ingrid was born in Detroit, Mich., to Irving “Sid” and Betty Cedargreen in 1942. She moved with her family to Wickenburg, Ariz., at the age of 10 and graduated high school there. While attending Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, she met and married her first husband Anton Ruf and had two sons, Bron Ruf and Dana Ruf, who, with their families are still residents of Glendale. She later adopted a daughter Chez Ruf.
In her late 30s, Ingrid re-started her higher education first at Glendale City College, then at the University of California Northridge, and finally at the University of Southern California. In 1988 she married Arnold Margolin and they settled in Glendale. Ingrid was devoted to her family and her therapy practice. When Ingrid became incapacitated by her illness, her two great regrets were having to stop caring for her patients and no longer being able to be part of her grandchildren’s lives.
In addition to her children and husband, Ingrid is survived by her daughters-in-law Donna Armstrong Ruf and Lisa Johnson Ruf and her nine grandchildren, Paul Armstrong, Cameron Silva, Chad Ruf, Michael Ruf, Matthew Ruf, Bailey Semmelroth, Adam Goetchel, Jed Houston and Zack Houston.
The sound of her laughter and the illumination of her wisdom still resonates in the lives of all who had the privilege of being in her presence.
A memorial celebration will be announced in the near future.
