Paula V. Diaz, passed away November 28, 2003. She was 97. Paula was one of nine children whose parents, Frank and Emilia Valenzuela, settled property south of Phoenix in the late 1800s. Paula was a graduate of Phoenix Union HS. On September 9, 1933 she married Gabriel M. Diaz, a career officer in the United States Air Force. They had one child, Rene E. Diaz. Paula was a resident of Scottsdale for 47 years. She is survived by her son Rene E. Diaz, of Scottsdale, a brother, Joe Valenzuela of San Diego, 2 grandchildren, Eric Bolen of Scottsdale and Dagny Evans of Surprise and 3 great-grandchildren, Haley, Nattalie and Jake. Visitation will be from 6:00PM - 9:00PM, Wednesday, December 3, 2003 with Rosary held at 7:30PM at Whitney & Murphy Arcadia Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00AM, Thursday, Dec-ember 4, 2003 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 909 S. 1st Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association Desert Southwest Chapter, 1028 E. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85006-2622.
