MANNING, Hazel


Manning, Hazel (Roe Howe) Hazel (Roe Howe) Manning, 95, passed away peacefully Friday, November 28, 2003. She was born on January 21, 1908 in Koshkanong, Missouri. Her parents were Melissa Ann Mustain and James Lorenzo Roe. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Howe (Scottsdale, AZ) and Pauline Moul (Globe, AZ), two stepdaughters, Audrey Dowd and Nancy Montoya (Missouri), three grandchildren, Marc, Steve, and Toni Moul, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and a niece Mary Agnes Proudfoot, (Pueblo, CO). She was preceded in death by her first husband William Howe and her second husband Aubrey "Jerry" Manning. For many years Hazel was the manager of the Globe Public School's cafeteria. She retired in the late 1960s, and moved to Lake Roosevelt Resort. In the early 1980s, Hazel turned to her very talented and loved hobby - quilting - and she opened and operated a quilting shop in Globe before marrying Jerry Manning in 1985. She and Jerry moved to Sullivan, Missouri in 1988. After his death in 1989, she moved to Red Wing, MN, where her daughter Ruth lived. In Red Wing, she was an active member of the resident council, arts and crafts, history and library committees in the senior housing apartments where she lived. She was a faithful member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and was active in fund raising events for the Villa Maria Retreat Center (Old Frontenac, MN). She and her daughter Ruth returned to Arizona in 2000. Hazel lived in the Kivel Manor Apartments and the Kivel Manor Care Center since returning to AZ. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be said on Friday, December 5, 2003 at 10:00AM, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix. Hazel requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Theresa's Perpetual Fund, 5045 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85018, the Villa Maria Retreat Center, 29847 Cty. 2 Blvd., Frontenac, MN, 55026, the American Cancer Society, 2929 E..
