Reid, Nancy Lou (Pursley)
Nancy Lou Reid (Pursley), 69, of Glendale, Arizona, joined her heavenly family on December 2, 2003. Nancy was born in Pontiac, Michigan on May 24, 1934 and graduated from Pontiac Central High School. Preceded in death by her parents David E. & Ruth L, brothers Roger, Robert, & David, Jr. Her father was owner of the well-respected Pursley Funeral Home in Pontiac, MI. Nancy was the only girl in a family with five brothers. They called her "Sis," and were very protective of her. Two of her older brothers were married and had children before she was born, so she was an "aunt" from the time she was born. Kids used to tease her on the playground because her nieces and nephews were about the same age as she was. Nancy was married in 1954 and lived in Oxford, Michigan for several years before returning to Pontiac. She later moved to West Bloomfield, Michigan. In 1977, as a single mother of three children, she packed up all their belongings in a 4x6 U-Haul trailer and moved to Glendale, Arizona. Nancy's first job in Arizona was at Switzer's in Metrocenter. Last she worked in various financial servicing positions at Western American Mortgage, Pima Savings, Cimco and Concord Servicing. She is survived by her sons Jeff Reid (Lora) of Glendale AZ, Scott Reid (Partner Jim Gibson) (Four legged nurse Maggy), Scottsdale, AZ; daughter Lisa Klein (Karl), Prescott; grandson Tyler Klein, Prescott; brothers Chuck (Jeanette) Pursley, Glendale, AZ, Don (Jim) (Joannie) Pursley, Brandon, MS; nieces Pati (Jerry) Ross, Bloomfield Hills, MI and Deanna (Clint) Brown, Glendale, AZ and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews in Arizona and Michigan. The family would also like to thank the angels of Hospice for their kindness and caring. A Life Celebration will be held at 3:45 p.m. Sunday December 7th at McDowell Center at the corner of Paradise Ln. & McDowell Mtn Ranch Rd. in Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a memorial donation in her name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. Life-Paths Funeral Home assisted the family.
