Irving S. Kimball, 85, of Paradise Valley, passed away Saturday morning at Hospice of the Valley in AZ. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Pearl Silverman Kimball of Scottsdale, AZ, a son Richard R. Kimball and Harriet of Longmeadow, Grandson Brian Kimball and fiance Paige of Longmeadow, granddaughter Suzanne of Phoenix, AZ, a son David N. Kimball and Robin of Boston, granddaughter Stephaine Dainton and husband Michael of Essex, MA great-grandchildren Zoe & Cooper, grandson Daniel and Fiance Candice of Boston, a son Robert G. Kimball and Jennifer Wise of Phoenix, AZ, and grandchildren Samantha, Brett, & Kara. Born in Springfield, MA, Irving was a Boy Scout, and was awarded the Eagle Scout Badge, as well as becoming Troop 32 leader. He started his business career driving tractor trailers. Later he joined the family waste paper business. In 1945, his entreprenurial drive lead to the formation of what would become the first true protective packaging business in the United States. From his retirement in 1968, he remained the honorary Chairman of The Kimball Companies. Among Irving's accomplishments were being honorary Chairman of The Kimball Companies. Among Irving's accomplishments were being honorary chairman of Packing Specialists, Inc. of Florida, honorary chairman of Packaging Specialists, Inc. of Florida, honorary chairman of Packaging Specialists, Inc. of Arizona, a founding partner of Corrugated Service Western of California, a leader in the Probus Club during the 1950's, general chairman of the Israeli Bond Drive in 1959, the president of Tempe Beth El from 1966-1968, a member of the Masonic Order, a founding member of Crestview Country Club, and a founding member of the Pioneer Valley Yacht Club. The Harold R. Ascher & Son Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Services have been held.
