DICKERSON, Jack Dalton


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, May 5, 2010 Jack Dalton Dickerson was born on June 30, 1940, in McAlester, Okla., to parents J.A. and Opal (Eiklor) Dickerson. Jack spent his early years in Haileyville, Okla. After graduating from high school, Jack made his way to Arizona, where he stayed for the remainder of his time here on earth. He served his country in the Air Force from 1958 to 1962. He settled in Ajo, Ariz., in 1962, where he was a volunteer fireman for 20 years. At one time he even had the honor of serving as fire chief, of which he was very proud. He was also active in the Loyal Order of Moose and the Masons during that time. In 1985, he moved to Bullhead City where he remained until he retired. In 2002, he and Dolores relocated to Chino Valley, Ariz., where he spent his retirement years. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Dolores (Kerr) Dickerson; daughter Justine (Chico) Yanez of Chandler, Ariz.; son Jack Dickerson II (Barbara) of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandsons Frankie Yanez, Joshua Yanez, Tanner Dickerson, and Cooper Dickerson; granddaughter Hayles Dickerson; brother Joe Dickerson of Texas; and sister Ann Whitehouse of Oklahoma. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, J.A. Dickerson and Opal Dickerson Oliver, and brother Jim Dickerson. Jack also leaves stepmother Velma Dickerson of Oklahoma; brother John Oliver of Oklahoma; and sister Vola Edwards of Oklahoma.
