Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ Tuesday, May 04, 2010 Ann Elizabeth Freitag 1956 - 2010 Ann Elizabeth Freitag of Clarkdale, AZ, was born in St. Paul, MN on June 26, 1956. She fought a valiant battle against a malignant brain tumor for two years and passed away, peacefully, in her home on April 27 with her daughter, Casi and her son, Lee standing close. Her parents were James Helling (deceased) and Joan Kennedy of Jerome, AZ. She moved to Arizona in 2005, opening the coffeehouse “Planet Java” with her friend Peter Lupu. She was working as a Head Start teacher in Cottonwood, getting great satisfaction out of seeing the children develop and had just completed her M.A. in Public Administration. She is survived by her mother, Joan Kennedy, significant other-Peter Lupu, ex-husband Edgar Freitag, daughters Casi Homzik & Gina Ross, sons Jay and Lee Freitag, five grandchildren and siblings Barbra Westmore, Yorba Linda, CA, Tama Almquist, Susan Helling, & Peter Helling, Twin Cities, Minn. A memorial service will be held in Minnesota in June.
