Backer, of Sun Lakes, Arizona, died Saturday, December 6, 2003 in Chandler, AZ at the age of 70. Martha was born in Greenwood, Mississippi July 28, 1933 to the late Robert W. Williamson and Harriet Southard Williamson. She has lived in Arizona since 1958 and was a member of Chapter BF of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and also the Chandler Service Club. She is survived by her husband, Henry Backer; daughter: Spencer Backer Sitton (Dave) of Tucson, AZ; mother, Harriet; granddaughters: Olivia Southard Sitton and Elizabeth Blakeney Sitton; brothers: Robert Williamson (Ellen), William Williamson (Dureen); and a sister Harriet Southard Burr (The Honorable Theodore Jackson Burr). The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 12, 2003 at St. Steven's Catholic Church, 24827 S. Dobson Road in Sun Lakes, Arizona with the visitation beginning at 9:00 A.M. and the Rosary Service at 9:15 A.M. Memorial contributions, in her name, to The East Valley Regional Cancer Center, 1875 W. Frye Road, Chandler, AZ 85224 (attn: Lisa Hansen); or to The St. Joseph's School Education Foundation, 215 S.
