OWENS, Cecil S.

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Friday, December 12, 2003 Cecil S. Owens, 88, of Mesa, AZ passed away December 10, 2003 with his wife of 70 years, Mary at his side. His two sons, Bill M. Owens and C. Lamar Owens also survive along with his two sisters Jeanette McCullough and Leonta Bailey. He was a cherished grandfather to 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grand children. Cecil was born on July 7, 1915 to Olin and Dora Owens in Oneonta, Alabama. He moved his family to Ajo, Arizona in 1941 where Phelps Dodge Mercantile employed him at their stores in Ajo, Bisbee and Douglas. He retired from the Douglas store and moved to Mesa in 1978. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Ajo and an active member of the Free and Accepted Masons. A viewing memorial will be held on Friday December 12th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and a graveside service will be held Saturday December 13th at 2:00pm both at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Rd. (Hayden & McKellips) in Scottsdale.
