A Mass of Christian Burial for Ysidro Alvillar, 85, of Phoenix was celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church by Rev. John Ancharski. Committal followed in the San Jose Cemetery.
Ysidro Bertoldo Alvillar was born April 4, 1917, to Guillermo Alvillar and Lucia Bertoldo in San Jose. Ysidro worked for Rundle and Rigsby, Los Angelas, Calif., during World War II as a defense contractor until 1948. He moved to Morenci, where he worked 31 years for Phelps Dodge Corporation. Ysidro retired as a smelter foreman from Phelps Dodge in 1981 when he and his family moved to Phoenix.
Ysidro married Angela Pena in 1940 and they had three daughters: Sarah and Erminda from Claremont, Calif., and Dolores from Glendale. He also leaves behind, a son, Scott Alvillar, of Las Vegas, Nev., and six grandchildren, Angela and Robert Ortiz, Sabrina Carr and Lora Hicks, Christina and Michelle Klokinis.
A rosary and prayer vigil were recited Monday evening at Bunker's Caldwell Chapel by Rev. John Ancharski. The family received friends afterward, with further visitation scheduled for Tuesday morning.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bunker's Caldwell Chapel.
