MELENDREZ, Ramon

Eastern Arizona Courier, Safford, AZ Tuesday, October 8, 2002 Ramon Melendrez, 90, of San Jose passed away Friday, September 27, 2002. Ramon was born May 20, 1912, to Genaro and Rafael Melendrez in Magdalena, N.M. Ramon worked as a farmer and rancher most of his life. Then he worked for the Safford School district for more than five years as a custodian. Ramon is survived by his daughters, Margie Rodriguez, Lydia Hoskins and Josefina Melendrez; and 24 grandchildren. He is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Macaria; sons, Genaro, Monie and Jerry; two grandchildren; brothers Gregorio Melendrez, Edwardo Melendrez; and sisters Clementina Melendrez, Maria Melendrez and Luz Compos. Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Morris-David's Safford Funeral Home with Rosary following. Mass was Wednesday, Oct. 2, at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment followed at the San Jose Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Melissa Morris of Morris-David's Safford Funeral Home.
