Show Low, Arizona - 11/02/2004
George Marcel Czarnecki, 82, died Thursday Oct. 28, 2004 at the RTA Hospice & Palliative Care Center in Lakeside.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois but moved to Hammond, Indiana as a child. At age 17, he enlisted in the United State Marine Corp and served his country proudly during World War II in the South Pacific. While in San Diego he met Betty Lashbaugh who was also in the Marines. They were married in Hammond, Indiana in 1946. They had three children, Dennis, Michael, and Connie.
After he left the military George worked for a steel mill briefly before hiring on with Sinclair Oil where he was a purchasing agent for nearly 30 years. In his spare time George loved music, playing the trumpet for weddings and other events. He was also active in several musicians' organizations. George was handy man, always having a project of some sort in the works. He was Grandpa George to many children in town. Every child he saw claimed him as grandpa. He will be greatly missed.
George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty; two sons, Dennis (Patricia) Czarnecki of Chicago, Illinois, Michael Czarnecki of Show Low; daughter, Connie (Jay) Pringle of Show Low; three grandchildren, Sara, Ben and Molly; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
