Violet Marie Johnson died at the age of 100.
She was born March 26, 1904 in Rockford, Illinois. Following graduation from Northern Illinois University she taught school in Rockford and later married Carl Milton Johnson who preceded her in 1956. They lived on on Carona Farms in De Kalb, Illinois for 26 years and Violet continued to live there until 1978 when she went to live in Rockford.
In 1989 she left and lived in Laguna Hills, California for six years before moving to her last home, Pueblo Norte in Scottsdale. Violet Marie Johnson was dedicated to many charitable causes especially those helping children get a good education.
Her survivors include two daughters Barbara Halverstadt of La Jolla, California and Lee Adams of Scottsdale; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Tom Halverstadt, Jr. and Nancy, Douglas Halverstadt and Kathleen, Karen Halverstadt Miller and David, Ron Adams and Tina, Heather Zitar and Darcy, Jenna Finnegan and Patrick, and Brooke Adams; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held at Hansens Desert Hills Mortuary in Scottsdale with Interment in Rockford, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate Methodist Church, 5248 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, Illinois, 61103.
