Doug Pogue, age 65, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004.
He was born in Globe and was raised in Joseph City where he lived most of his life. He attended Joseph City Elementary School and Holbrook High School where he graduated in 1957. Doug then went in to construction; he worked highway construction, and was a shovel operator at the mine in Kayenta. He also worked as a mechanic for Wells Cargo at Ambrosia Lake, New Mexico.
In 1960 he married Pat Baker in Holbrook. In 1965 he went to work for the City of Holbrook Street Department. In 1968 he went to work for the Navajo County Roads Department where he remained as a Supervisor until he retired in 1999. Doug loved horses and ranching, fighting chickens, hunting and fishing with his family.
Doug is survived by his wife, Pat Pogue of Joseph City; three daughters, Suzy (Tracy) Young, Sherri Hill, Sandra "Pootsie" (Rusty) Pogue-DeSpain all of Joseph City; mother, Billie Pogue of Tonto Basin; brother, Ray (Irma) Pogue of Holbrook, Patricia (Crawford) Roberson of Tonto Basin; five grandchildren, Brian, Brittany, Shea Lynn, Taylor, Kordale.
He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Pogue in 1992 and son in law Bobby Hill in 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at the Joseph City Ward Chapel The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 at Owens Mortuary in Holbrook. Interment will be in the Joseph City Cemetery.
