The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 12/07/2004 Lucille DeWitt, 90, died Dec. 1, 2004 in Snowflake. Lucille was born in Thatcher and was raised in Phoenix where she graduated from Phoenix Union High School. On Dec. 23, 1936 she married LeRoy O. DeWitt in the Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mesa. They lived most of their life in Snowflake. LeRoy passed away May 19, 1981. During her life Lucille had worked as a clerk at the Jessie M. Smith grocery store and was an operator at the old telephone company. She also worked at the Great Western Bank for many years and retired in 1981. She was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in many capacities in the church auxiliaries. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching her grandchildren play in which ever sport they were participating in. She attended all of the events her children and grandchildren were involved in. The family all knew that they were the most important part of her life. In her later years while attending all of these events, she also enjoyed going to the Silver Creek Senior Center to be with her wonderful friends there. Lucille is survived by 6 sons, Rodney (Nyla) of Phoenix, LeRoy (Mary Lou) of Show Low, Loran (Della) of Show Low, Leslie (Marcia) of Oswego, Ill., Lyon (Beth) of Show Low and Lawrence (Deanna) of Snowflake; one daughter, Loris Reidhead of Mesa; one sister, Myrtle Poulter of Mesa; 38 grandchildren; 92 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6 at the Snowflake State Center, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a visitation one hour prior to services at the church and from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake.
