The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 12/14/2004 C.W. died Dec. 7, 2004 in Winslow. He was born Nov. 21, 1922 to Gregge M. and Myrtle Matthews in Byara, Oklahoma. He was a WWII Veteran, part of the 33rd Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron. He moved to Winslow with his family when he was one. He lived in Show Low and was a member of the Show Low VFW. He is survived by his sons, Chris and Wayne; brothers, Carlyle and Marvin Matthews; sisters, Anna Lou Levengood and Johnie Bell Peacock; one grand-daughter, Sonja and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gregge M. and Myrtle Matthews; two brothers and a granddaughter. Grave side services were held Monday, Dec. 13 at the National Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. Arrangements were under the care of Greer's Mortuary in Winslow.
