SCOTT, James (Steve)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 12/21/2004 James "Steve" Scott, died Dec. 19, 2004. James Scott, known to all who knew him as Steve, Dad, Papa, husband, friend and much, much more, left this world with his own Dad who passed on just before him to make a place for Steve with our Heavenly Father. He was born Jan. 3, 1949 to James Allen Scott and Erma Lee Wilson in Moab, Utah. He spent most of his young life going back and forth between Moab and Collbran, Colorado. He always felt his home was Colorado and the draw to go back there was strong. He moved to Taylor/Snowflake in 1969 at the age of 20 with his wife Carolyn Lee (Held) and young son James Marshall Scott. Their two daughters Lisa Ann (Purcella) and Kathy Michelle (Ballard) were born in Taylor. Steve came to the area at the request of his old classmate/friend Marshall Brewer to work at the paper mill where he was for 35 years. He made a lot of lasting friendships while employed there. He lived to golf and shoot pool, but his accomplishments and talents were many. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend. He is survived by his wife, Leona Scott; his children, James Scott (Pam), Lisa Purcella (Jeremy), Kathy Ballard (Sean), step-daughter, Sheri Jones (Alvin), step-son, Chris Hyde; mother, Erma Lee Wilson (Jim); brothers, Dan Scott (Carol), Lee (Irene), Ted (Peggy); 10 grandchildren and various aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Valley View Southern Baptist Church in Snowflake. Grave side services will be held at Eagle Light Cemetery in Collbran, Colorado Dec. 23 at 3:30 p.m.
